1. Narrative Text Dongeng Singkat

“Beauty and The Beast”

Once upon a time there was a prince. He lived in a beautiful castle in France. He has a beautiful garden. He really loves with his beautiful rose. (orientation)

One day, an old and ugly woman picked his beautiful rose. He was very angry and he said, “Hei you an old and ugly woman! Don’t take my roses! Go away from my beautiful garden!”. Suddenly, the old and ugly woman turned into a beautiful fairy. The prince was very surprised. A beautiful fairy said, “You are so arrogant, I cursed you to be the beast”. The prince became a beast and and also the castle. Before a beautiful fairy leaved, she said to the beast. “You could be a human again if a woman fell in love with you. (complication)

One day, a man named “Maurice” traveled past the castle. It was raining heavily so he came into the castle. In the castle “Maurice” captured the Beast. First his daughter, Belle, didn’t like the Beast. Because he was mean. Then the Beast slowly changed. He was not mean anymore. Belle began to like him. She fell in love with him. One day she said to the beast “I Love You although you are the beast”. (resolution)

Finally the spell was broken. The Beast became human again. The Beast and Belle got married. Both of them lived happily. (reorientation)

2. Narrative Text Dongeng

“Rapunzel”

A long time ago there lived a young couple, a man and his wife. His wife was expecting their baby. She wanted a plant that only grew in her neighbor’s garden, she wanted it so much. She even intended to steal it herself. But later on, she sent her husband to steal it. Unfortunately, mother Gothel, the owner of the garden, caught him doing it. She was a witch. Then, mother Gothel forced the couple to give their first baby to her.

A few months later, the baby was born. It was a girl and named Rapunzel. Soon, this baby was taken away to live with mother Gothel. Rapunzel grew to be a beautiful young girl with her long golden hair. At first she was cared for in a normal way. When she reached puberty, she was locked in the forest. It could only be entered by climbing on Rapunzel’s long hair. To cheer herself up, she loved to sing.

One day, a young prince was out hunting. He stumbled upon the tower. He heard Rapunzel’s beautiful voice. He decided to meet her. He spied and then he knew that was a girl that locked in the tower. The prince asked Rapunzel to drop her hair. The Prince visited her often and the two fell in love.

Then, Rapunzel made a plan to escape from the tower. She wanted to be with the prince. She asked the prince to bring her a skein of silk each time he visited. She might weave a ladder for her escape. Unfortunately, Mother Gothel caught on. Then, she banished Rapunzel to the desert. She threw the prince from the tower into a thorny bush. The thorns made the prince blind and he traveled around the world to found his love. Eventually, they found each other, and prince’s eyes were healed by Rapunzel’s tears of happiness.

“Pinocchio”

Once upon a time, an old carpenter named Gepetto carved a boy-shaped puppet and named it Pinocchio. He hoped that the boy would become a human being. A fairy heard his words and fulfilled his wishes. He turned the puppet alive.

But the fairy hoped if the boy really wanted to be a real boy, he must be a good boy. Gepetto loved her very much, but Pinocchio was pretty naughty and rarely told the truth. Once he lies, his wooden nose would grow long. He always promised to be a good boy. But he forgot his words and skipped school with his friends to join the circus. Now, he began to miss Gepetto.

One day, he heard that his father had been swallowed up by a very large whale. He went directly to find the whale. The whale also swallowed him. In the belly of a whale, Pinocchio and Gepetto were delighted to see each other. They made plans to get out and start to tickle the whale’s belly. As the whale opened his mouth and sneezed, Pinocchio and Gepetto slipped out. They got home safely. The fairy was pleased with Pinocchio’s courage and turned him into a human being. From that day on, he was a very good boy and never skipped school. Father and son live happily ever after.

“Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl in a palace, she lived with her uncle and her aunty after her parents passed away. She lived unhappy the actually, her uncle and her aunty always made her upset. All the palace event were guided by them.

Someday, when snow white wanted to go to the bedroom , she passed the dinning room. She saw her uncle and aunty in the dinning room, they told that snow white would be moved out from America. Snow white was so shocked and she felt the flowers pot down. They looked at her and they brought her to the storeroom.

Snow white was so sad, and she tried to run away from the palace. It was success , she could run a way by the window. She ran as fast as she could, she entered the forest. She walked and ran alone in the dark forest. She met the wild animal and she hide. After along time, she felt to tired and sleepy, she met a small cottage and she decided to enter. She laid her body in the floor.

Seven dwarfs were so shocked after knowing there was a girl who was laying on the floor, they looked her because their body was so different. Snow white opened her eyes and she met them. She told about her live and they took her as their eldest sister. They lived happy aver after.

“Thumbelina”

Once upon a time, there was a kind woman who had no children, longed for a baby and would often say, “How I would love to have a baby girl, even a tiny little one.” A beautiful fairy heard her wish one day, and gave her a little seed to plant in a flowerpot. When the seed bloomed into a tulip, the woman saw a tiny, beautiful girl inside, no bigger than her thumb. She decided to call her Thumbelina.

She was so small that she had a walnut shell for a bed and used petals as a blanket. Then, an ugly toad fell in love with Thumbelina.

One night when she was sleeping, he carried her off to his lily pad in a pond. Thumbelina was very unhappy. A swallow was passing by and saw how sad she
looked, and said, “Come south with me to warmer lands.” Young Thumbelina flew away on the swallow’s back.

They flew across the seas and came to a land of sunshine. The swallow said, ” This is my home. You can live in one of the loveliest and biggest flowers.”

When Thumbelina stepped inside, she found a handsome fairy, as tiny as her, in its heart. He was the son of the king of flowers and he fell in love with Thumbelina. He asked her to marry him. So Thumbelina became queen of the flowers and the two lived
happily ever after.
